Vincent Wheatfield with Crows (1890)

Just before his death, Vincent van Gogh painted the painting ‘Wheatfield with Crows’ in 1890. Beneath a wild blue sky lies a yellow-orange cornfield with a red path enhanced by green strips of grass. With the painting, Van Gogh wanted to show ‘how healthy and heart-enhancing I find the countryside.’ The Effio sock ‘Vincent cornfield’ has translated the painting into ferocious striped socks. The sky is painted on the sock in different shades of blue. These blue stripes contrast strongly with the yellow-orange stripes of the corn, the reddish brown of the path and the green of the grass path. Color expresses something by itself, one cannot miss that, one has to make use of it.

What does beautiful, really beautiful – is also right. (Vincent van Gogh)
